Coaching: Conversations that Transform

My Coaching Story

Four years ago I had a friend call me who had recently started coaching and he asked if I would interested in having him coach me.  I had been married for 6 years and my marriage was not where it should be, I had been doing ministry for 5 years and the ministry was lacking, I couldn't gain control of my time and so I felt overwhelmed and frustrated leading to bouts of escapism.  So, not fully understanding what coaching was, I said yes.

It was one of the best decisions I have every made.   I would find out that coaching is a series of intentional conversations leading to goals and steps taken towards major outcomes.  Coaching helped me to define and pursue after the things I really wanted in life.  It helped me to have clarity and confidence as I outlined goals and steps to move forward.  In two years I was progressing in being a better husband, the ministry at the church was thriving, and I started to take on more responsibilities that would eventually lead to me stepping into the executive pastor role at our church.  I believed in the transforming power of coaching because I experienced it first hand.

After seeing the power of coaching I decided that I wanted to develop coaching skills so that I could help people around me move forward in their lives like I had.  I spent a week in Seattle at a training with Creative Results Management.  The training gave me the tools to get started on my coaching journey.  I quickly gained the required hours to be certified with CRM.

Since then I have coached over 80 hours as well as developed further in my training.  I recently became a member of the International Coaching Federation and I am pursuing my certification with them as well.  Through coaching I have helped people take steps in the ministries, budgets, careers and even run marathons.
